Trail Mix Granola

Can we all agree that most trail mix is actually super meh? I’ve only ever found one that didn’t compel me to pick out all of the chocolate and leave the rest behind. I’ll spare you the details but I just realized the other day that trail mix is practically the perfect add in for my favorite granola recipe.

Ingredients:

5 cups oats

1 cup cashew halves or pieces

1/2 cup sliced almonds

2 tablespoons cinnamon

1 tablespoon nutmeg

8 oz trail mix

1/4 cup chocolate chips*

*optional

On stove just until melted:

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/8 cup water

Whisk until smooth.

Pour wet ingredients into oats & nuts, mix; bake at 325 for 20 minutes gently flip half way through. If you plan to add chocolate chips, wait until five minutes after the granola comes out of the oven and sprinkle over top.
