‘Tis the season for some traditional treats. Cranberries are one of those things that really set the holiday season in motion for me as soon as I can find them in the grocery store. The clerk cashing me out usually isn’t too impressed with my excitement, and it’s only in recent years I came to notice that not everyone loves cranberries quite like I do.
If you find yourself charged with bringing the cranberry sauce to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner this year, have no fear, this is a recipe that everyone will love. It’s more sweet than tart but doesn’t quite belong on the dessert table if you know what I mean.
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
3 orange slices
1/4 ground cloves
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons raw honey
- Add your water, cranberries, cloves and orange slices to a pot.
- Bring to a simmer at medium heat for 15 minutes.
- Remove orange slices, carefully.
- Add brown sugar.
- Continue to simmer until sugar is dissolved.
- Stir in honey, remove from heat and allow to cool.
That’s all there is to it! It isn’t as fun and festive as my Spiced Cranberry Sauce from a few years ago, but it has a time-honored flavor that your loved ones are sure to remember and adore.
