Ask For Paper

Today is another beautiful eco-friendly Friday and TGIF because a lot of people truly need a weekly bit of education on simple earth-saving techniques. Today we are going to cover perhaps the easiest life change you can make that costs absolutely nothing to do.

The only thing you need to do is remember.

When you go to the grocery store, if you haven’t already bought yourself a set of handy reusable bags or you forgot them in your car (guilty as charged) I promise the person bagging your groceries isn’t going to throw you out of the store for asking for paper bags.

Similarly, at a drive-thru speaker if you want to order that tasty frozen drink but it always comes in a plastic cup, ask for paper. It’s 100% doable. They might be a little thrown off at first but 10/10 their job is to please the customer and if you want paper, you’ll get paper.

For trickier things like straws and cutlery, it can be easier to stick it out and wait until you get home or make the conscious decision to get foods and drinks that don’t require so much baggage. I literally drank my oatmeal from a cup yesterday because I forgot a spoon, it’s not something I recommend but it gave me a good chuckle. If you find yourself using a plastic fork for lunch, don’t beat yourself up and don’t give up. You can achieve a plastic-free life or at the very least a smaller footprint if you just keep moving forward with it.

While we’re remembering things, keep in mind if your buddy teases you for bringing your own straw to Burger King, that you’re making progress and they are doing nothing. They should really thank you.

That’s all for this week beautiful people, keep getting greener by the day and as always, thanks for reading!

Laundry is such a dirty word, clean it up with some Homemade Detergent *wink*.
