Christmas Decorations

These were so much fun and really easy!

Remember those old wooden trucks and blocks that were practically in every elementary classroom throughout the 90s and early 2000s? They’re basically just 2×4’s cut into different shapes and sizes. Well, we happened to have a small collection of them at home and unfortunately (because my boys make weapons out of everything) we had to take them away a long time ago.

It’s been a long time of holding onto these with hopes that I could breathe new life into them and now here they are. Not quite perfect but with that rustic charm that I love. All I used were the blocks themselves, some old string, paint, small gift tags (cut down from larger tags), and some stickers. I used the stickers to put down before I painted and then peeled them up once the paint had dried (a little too early on the end of MERRY), but that’s all there is to it.

I have this “bad habit” of buying more Christmas decorations every year with hopes of having the most spectacularly decorated house. Unfortunately, I’ve hit my limit for this year so now I’m making it happen with what I’ve already got on hand. I just have this dream of spruce garland wrapped around my non-existent staircase and a tree in every room (which we basically do have given the open floor plan of our apartment).

Anyhow, if you’re looking for some cute little decorations to add an extra homey touch to your holiday season, give these little wooden decorations a go. Even if you don’t have these toy blocks, like I said, they’re basically just little hunks of 2×4 wood so I’m sure you can come across them pretty easily.
