When I became a mom I found a deal on these cute letter magnets and for a long time I loved the pop of color and the way they reminded me of when I was growing up. After years of wear and actual tear, they not only looked dated but they actually annoyed me a little bit with the bright colors that I once found charming.
I thought that matte black sounded like a great idea and I planned to only paint the tops and leave the edges that bare wood tone, but the dripping paint didn’t exactly give me an option.
Knowing that I didn’t want to add color back to the magnets I struggled with what I was going to do to break up the monotony. I searched my paint cupboard and chose this really beautiful metallic gold paint I bought from Waverly Inspirations, see the outcome below.
Even if your little ones are growing and don’t use their magnets anymore this DIY is an adorable way to keep them from ending up in the trash. My five year old agreed that they look much nicer than before and I’m happy to have brought some new life into them.
