The struggle is real and it’s not over just yet.
Just when I was feeling optimistic about the rest of this week I get smacked with an ear infection. Probably should have put on a hat before taking a nice long walk down by the lake last night. I got myself absorbed in watching giant chunks of ice floating closer to shore, watching them bob around and pile up. Shame on me for not listening to my mom’s voice in the back of my head, “cover your ears!”
Half way through the night I woke up with pain in my ear and I could barely sleep from that point on. I’ve learned more than ever this past month that if it isn’t one thing then it’s probably going to be another. If not two sick kids, it’s a cold, Braxton Hicks on and off and an ear infection for mom. Luckily for me, we also got a pretty hefty load of snow over night and my boss (A.K.A. my brother) called me this morning to tell me that I should stay home for the day. I’ll take it! Now I’m sitting on the couch with my head tilted to the side hoping that whatever is in my ear will see it’s way out on it’s own because I couldn’t be less interested in going to the doctor’s office. Especially considering the fact that every other week I already have an appointment with the OBGYN (and not long from here it will be every single week).
Side note: ear infections somewhat run in my family. My cousin had to have tubes put in his ears and my brother almost did. My little strong man, Baby M, had multiple ear infections and double ear infections his first two years and his doctor said that if they persisted we’d have to go see an ear, nose and throat specialist to discuss tubes. Lucky for us his ear infections took about a one year break before his most recent double ear infection, so no tubes for him. Now that I’ve actually felt his pain I can’t give enough kudos to my little man for toughing it out through each and every ear infection.
Now that I’ll be home for the day, I’m going to work on some birthday crafts for Baby J’s party and maybe even try to relax a tidbit. Hopefully everyone has a wonderful day!
