My very honest opinion of The Honest Company.
If you have never heard of The Honest Company you can take a look at their website by following the attached link. Founded by Jessica Alba (yes, the actress) and Christopher Gavin, The Honest Company works hard to help bring honestly simple and safe products to families. It should come as no surprise that a company focusing on chemical free, safe and affordable products appeals to me.
When it comes to a lot of things around my house, I try to be as DIY as possible so I can 100% guarantee that the things I use are safe and effective. There are certain things that I can’t do my self and that’s where I’ve found myself turning to this company.
At the moment, these are the products I have tried:
Organic Healing Balm ♥
Multi-Surface Cleaner ♥
Face + Body Lotion ♥
Shampoo + Body Wash ♥
The little pink hearts stand by every product that I stand by 100%.
The diapers are adorable but I found them to be a little stiff, I was also nervous to commit to having them mailed to me. Nerves about running out before they came in the mail ended up being my final deciding factor against them.
I keep some of the multi-surface cleaner on my desk at work. The cleaner gives a streak free shine to my desk top, smells wonderful and has no chemicals in it. I don’t use this at home because it’s more expensive than making my own cleaning products but if you already purchase yours the price difference is virtually non-existent.
As for the healing balm and lotion, these are two things I use the least, normally I just use coconut oil for my dry skin. Recently after losing my eczema lotion I started to use them a bit more often and I’ll surely be buying some big bottles of the lotion very soon. Both are wonderful products but between the two, the lotion wins all day.
Last but far from least, the Shampoo + Body Wash. I invested in this product big time after learning about the chemicals in Johnson’s baby wash. This is something I initially just bought for bath time but it is also one of the ingredients in my DIY All Natural Baby Wipes and I’m also guilty of using it on my hair in the shower.
When it comes down to it, these are products that you can trust to be chemical free, safe for your family, they never test on animals and they work great but everything wonderful comes at a price and these products are no different. If you take a look at their website, their prices will probably shock you a little bit at first. The Shampoo + Body Wash for example is $9.95 per 8.5oz bottle vs. Johnson’s at $5.92 per 28oz. But don’t forget, you can always get what you want at a lower price by simply shopping around. Over the weekend I ordered two 17oz bottles from Amazon.com for $22.99, which is still pretty pricey but it lasts a long time. I bathe two boys, use it on my hair and also use it to make wipes and one 17oz bottle lasts in our house for months because it works so well.
Compared to a lot of all natural companies they are one of the least expensive and they offer an extremely wide array of personal care products and home goods. They even have things like tampons, vitamins, and organic baby formula.
Even if you aren’t sure about trying out this company full time you can order a free trial of either diapers and wipes, home goods or both. Just make sure you read the terms and understand that you have to cancel your membership if you are uninterested or else they will charge your account and mail you things.
If you have any questions post them below and as always thanks for reading!
