This is the fourth and final post of my most recent batch of baby foods. I have already posted about the carrots, sweet potatoes and applesauce. Last and certainly not least is the apple, blueberry and chicken mixture.
One of the very first steps is to get your chicken into the oven (no salt or seasoning), and bake it at 400 degrees until completely cooked. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees before it is considered safe to eat. Once the chicken has been in the oven for a little bit you can get your apples ready. Similar to making applesauce, get your apples peeled, give them a quick dip in some warm, lemon water then get them chopped and into the steamer. This time however, we’re going to combine them with some frozen blueberries. (I prefer to use frozen because there is more quality control so I’m less likely to have to throw any away).
As soon as your chicken is fully cooked you can remove it from the oven, get it chopped and let it cool (I had a lot of extra and by extra, I mean lunch). Add everything into your blender and add some water, enough to cover about half of the ingredients.
Blend everything together until you’re sure that there are no chunks of chicken in there, I put all of the chicken towards the top to make sure it blended thoroughly. After you’re finished blending, get your containers filled and into the freezer.
I was one container short so the baby actually had some of this for lunch today and it is definitely baby approved! If you have any questions leave them in the comments below and I will respond promptly. As always, thanks for reading and enjoy!
