Smoothie Planning

So! I wanted to replace my fattening morning breakfast sandwich or my big bowl of nothing every morning with a more healthy decision. I bought about $30.00 worth of fruits (and some vegetables), flax seed and yogurt, then preprepared ten smoothies and stuck the Ziploc bags into the freezer door.

IMG_7072I ended up making four different kinds of smoothies from what I bought. The flavor combinations that I made include:

Grapefruit, strawberry, pineapple, raspberry, spinach, kale and chard.

Raspberry, peach and pineapple.

Strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, spinach, kale and chard.

Orange, peach and pineapple.

I also bought a bunch of bananas so that I can add them to smoothieIMG_7071s or just make plain jane banana smoothies. The neatest part about having preprepared smoothies is probably how quickly I can make them up in the morning. Especially with my fancy little Nutri Ninja. I have been adding 1/2 cup of yogurt, almost 1 cup of water and a couple tablespoons of golden flaxseed to each smoothie.

My toddler has actually started to take sips of them now and again but this morning he caught sight of a bag with green stuff in it and pretty much told me that he would have no part of it. Hoping that I can convince him to give it a try, you honestly cannot taste the greens whatsoever.

Grocery shopping for this endeavor…

2 oranges
1 grapefruit
2 peaches
2 containers of raspberries
1 container of blackberries
1 container of strawberries
1 pre-cut pineapple (fresh)
1 container of greek (nonfat) plain yogurt
1 box of flaxseed
1 bunch of bananas
1 bin of chard, spinach and kale mix
