Hello and welcome to This Young Mum! Let me introduce myself.

My name is Brandi and I am the twenty-six-year-old mother to three little boys ages three, four, and seven. My journey into motherhood started when I was just nineteen and still trying to figure out exactly who I was. Despite being unsure of my relationships, future career, and everything else, the one thing that I knew for sure when that pregnancy test came back positive was that I was meant to be a mom.

24796664_1898520616842289_3721513424869367915_nOf course, it wasn’t without making great sacrifices and overcoming struggles that I managed to make it through my beginning years of motherhood. Like most people, I am not perfect and I have no problem voicing when I fail at something that I have tried whether it be the Homemade Peanut Butter fiasco of 2016 or my first marriage, not everything works out in the end.

To say that there have been a lot of huge life-altering changes throughout the last few years, would be an understatement and I am not ashamed to admit that I am still figuring things out. Of all uncertainty in this world, what I do know is that I have a beautiful family and a loving husband and for those things, I couldn’t be luckier.

This is a place of growth.

The original reason that I began blogging basically boils down to my anxiety. After my first child was born, I became increasingly aware of my own mortality and the thought of ever leaving my child behind without teaching him all of the life lessons I had gathered haunted me. So initially I took to writing them down in a journal, but who would really take the time to read my diary when I was gone? It made much more sense to catalog my list somewhere much more permanent, like the internet. Once I’d made that first post, I couldn’t stop. The child in me that always longed to be a writer was screaming that this was my place, my little corner of the internet to do what I wish.

I hope that through all of my own experiences other moms know that they aren’t alone. I hope that young girls, scared and uncertain, know that they can do it if they commit to their child wholeheartedly.
