Hello and welcome to This Young Mum! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Brandi and I am the 27-year-old mother to three young boys ages three, four, and seven. My journey into motherhood started when I was just nineteen and I was still trying to figure out exactly who I was. Despite being unsure of my relationships, future career, and everything else, the one thing I knew for sure when that pregnancy test came back positive was that I was destined for motherhood.
To say that there have been a lot of life-altering changes throughout the last few years would be an understatement and I am not ashamed to admit that I am still figuring things out. Of all the uncertainty in this world, what remains concrete is how fortunate I am to have such a beautiful family and a loving husband. For those things, I couldn’t be luckier.
This is a place of growth.
Although we would all like to believe that we are doing right by our kids, I very often take a step back to examine the choices that we are making individually and as a family. What truly sets me apart, from the average parental figure, is that I think as a parent it is my job to guide my children and not make their decisions for them. This doesn’t mean we live in a free for all, it simply means that the larger life decisions that impact our children to their core are not ours to make. In this blog, you can follow our family as we achieve our goals, address our failures, bake our cookies and so much more. Hopefully, you stick around a bit.
Through all of my own experiences, the good and the bad, I hope that other moms know they aren’t alone. I hope that young girls, scared and uncertain, know that they can do it if they commit to their child wholeheartedly.
